Overview:
General Education and Training (GET) Covers:
- Grade R (Reception/Grade 0) to Grade 9.
- Includes the Foundation Phase (Grades R–3), Intermediate Phase (Grades 4–6), and Senior Phase (Grades 7–9).
- Learners usually complete the GET phase with the General Education and Training Certificate at the end of Grade 9.
Further Education and Training (FET) Covers:
- Grades 10–12 in schools, as well as vocational education at FET colleges (now called TVET Colleges).
- Learners in schools complete this phase with the National Senior Certificate (NSC), commonly called matric.
